mostly charcoal with a tiny bit of pencil.
i've been messing around with this for the last couple of weeks. i'm pretty happy with it but i think i'll refine it a little.
critiques are definitly encouraged.

Amazing detail! A beautifully-captured portrait. Is this on canvas? I was wondering about the texture.

no, it's not on canvas. i think its on strathmore charcoal paper. it has a very deep and consistent tooth which gives it that sort of effect. thanks for the kind words.

The detail in the skin is just phenomenal  The paper texture adds a nice bit of "oomph" to the piece as well :giggle:

You certainly use your tools well!

sometimes i think cheaper can be better
for art supplies. i've spent less and less
as time's gone on.
my first paintbrush was a kolinsky sable series 7.
it's been used about 6 times. i need to
have a garage sale...
